In June 2026 I was „Artist in Residence“ in Tilal Utique, Tunisia. Together with a group of six Tunisian photographers, we took portraits of ordinary people from the area: gardeners, masons, janitors, hairdressers, beekeepers, roofers… They live in the radius of Tilal Utique, portrayed with the ray of light – therefore the title. The theme was “To see the unseen.” By that I mean using photography to give the people who are often overlooked the visibility and respect they deserve. I am grateful for the wonderful encounters with people who opened up to us—including their workshops, families, and homes. The “Artist Residency” culminated in an open-air exhibition on June 18 in Tilal Utique. My gratitude goes to the Kamel Lazaar Foundation which supported and organized this project.
